What is life planning?
Otherwise known as the purpose area of financial planning, this plan
is essential in the development of the rest of your plan.
"What do you want to be when
you grow up?"
Have you heard that question
before? Probably when you were in third or forth grade. That was
when your excitement was still boiling through your veins. You
couldn't wait to get out into the world and shoot for those dreams.
When was the last time you
thought about what you were going to do when you grow up? You don't
hear it much any more, do you? Probably NEVER!
If you don't have a solid
purpose for yourself in this life, you better sit down and think
about it long and hard for a while. Life is too short to put your
dreams on hold. If you are just getting out of high school, I caught
you just in time before all of your dreams got stomped into the
ground.
If you are middle aged, like
me, hope is not gone! It's never too late to start dreaming. Most
people who have achieved their dreams in life did so in a very short
amount of time. When you are younger, you are more careless with
your dreams, giving yourself plenty of time to realize them. But
when you are getting older, you don't have all that time to play
around with.
You need to know what your
primary purpose is in life, then you can aim all of your plans
toward that purpose. When you base your dreams on a burning desire
such as your primary purpose, you will have more than enough
motivation to get the financial balls rolling in the right
direction. That's what life planning is all about!
